Home Medicines Review (HMR)/RMMR

From the end of March 2008, the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) introduced a new program giving Repatriation patients the ability to have free Dose Administration Aids (DAA), providing they have been recommended by an accredited pharmacist in a HMR report.
In our rural Division, the biggest barrier for HMR uptake still remains the shortage of accredited pharmacists.  Apart from Mr David Senator, all current accredited pharmacists are working in the Echuca area.  This means for some pharmacies they must either have a pharmacist able to do the interviews and forward the results to an accredited pharmacist living in another area, or bring an accredited pharmacist in to complete the HMR referrals they have.
